Toronto International BrazilFest (“BrazilFest”, “we”, “us”) is produced by Itabras Entertainment Productions Inc. and Casa Brasil Canada, which are jointly responsible for this website. This policy explains what personal information we collect through brazilfest.ca and our application forms, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- Application forms (Vendors, Volunteers, Sponsors, Performers): name, email, phone, business or artist details, and the information you choose to share about your products, services, availability or performance. Each application receives a protocol number.
- Volunteer applications from minors: age range and a signed parental or guardian consent form.
- Newsletter: your name and email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Payments: vendor fees are paid by Interac e-Transfer through your own bank. We never receive or store card or bank account numbers on this website.
- Website use: pages visited, device and browser type, and general location, collected through cookies by Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. Videos embedded from YouTube may also set cookies.
- Anti-spam protection: we store a one-way coded version of your IP address to limit repeated submissions; we cannot reverse it to identify you.
How we use it
- To review your application, contact you about it, and organize the festival.
- To send you festival news by email, only if you subscribe to our newsletter or tick the email consent box on a form. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails.
- To understand how visitors use the site and to measure our promotion.
- To meet legal, safety and insurance obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see it
Only authorized members of the BrazilFest team. We may share information with service providers that help us run the site and the festival (for example, website hosting, email delivery, analytics), who may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Photos and video at the festival
BrazilFest is a public event. Photos and video taken on site may be used in our communications. If you would prefer not to appear, tell our team on site or write to us, and we will make reasonable efforts to respect your request.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept for 2 years after the festival they apply to. Declined applications are deleted or anonymized 12 months after the festival. Email consent records are kept as long as required by CASL.
